Job Opportunities in Technology

In the past, our parents had to work very hard to make a living. Most of them were peasant farmers and small-time traders selling their wares to barely be able to make a living.
Most of other artisan works they took to were practiced with crude implements like hoe, cutlass and some other implements which made their task energy-sapping and time-consuming. Added to that is the fact that most of those strenuous jobs hardly gave them enough income to make ends meet. No wonder then that they were always broke and had little to show for the huge amount of time and money invested in those trades. At
best, they will manage to build a 4-room mud-block house and get a rally bicycle to show as the reward for their efforts.
Today, things have drastically improved for the better. No longer do we have to spend huge amount of time and resources on endeavours that will barely pay for data not to talk of other expenses. We have a lot of self-made millionaires who got their millions and billions legally. Some names that will readily come to mind are Bill Gates (Microsoft), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), and a host of others.
This sudden transition from low-income earning to high-paying jobs is made possible through the advent of technology. What would have been the worth of Zuckerberg without computer and the internet? We spend a lot of time and data on Facebook to make this guy the 6th richest person in the world at the age of 32. Hmmmm!
Now, if technology is a tool to make one rich legally without much stress as it was in the past, what are some of the job opportunities that technology can offer. I will like to make an inexhaustive list of job opportunities offered by technology:
1. Programming.
2. Web designing.
3. Blogging.
4. Internet Marketing.
5. Database Administration.
6. Internet Consultancy.
7. Lecturing.
8. Running an IT school.
9. Freelance writing.
10.Computer/Phone Repair
The list above does not contain all the opportunities that abound in this computer age. Many new opportunities come up every now and then. It is left for each individual to choose whether to tread the footpath of our grandparents or follow the current trend of maximizing technology to make ends meet.
I will try as much as possible to give detailed explanation of the opportunities in each of the listed professions above and the basic requirement to tap from what they offer.
General Requirement
All the jobs listed above have the same basic requirements which are:
1. A computer system.
2. Data.
3. Good electricity supply. This is essential because most of them require a lot of research and typing, especially programming and web designing.
4. Time: They are time consuming. I have not engaged in anything that is as time consuming as programming and web designing.
5. Determination: There are bound to be discouragement, especially if things are not going as expected. Determination is what will keep you going. Ask experienced programmers, web designers and bloggers. They will tell you that you need a lot of determination to keep going.
