Bus that drives over cars

China has the reputation of being the the most populated country in the world with almost 1.4 billion people, making over one-sixth of the world population. This population explosion has its challenges, among which is traffic jam or congestion, which is why this bus that drives over cars is designed.

China's traffic challenges

Some of China's major cities, like Beijing, have a lot of traffic challenges. For instance, on a daily basis, over 20,000 buses ply the roads of Beijing covering as much as 500km. Also, considering the fact that the Chinese are gradually shifting from their customary bicycle riding to using automobile, you can imagine the
kind of traffic congestion on the roads of China on a daily basis

Finding Solution to the traffic challenges - the bus that drives over cars

In a move to overcome this population problem,  a company based in the capital city, Beijing, has unveiled the plans for a bus that will be able to glide over buses on the highway. The bus which has the capacity to transport 1,400 passengers will be able to reduce the traffic jam in the country.
The chief engineer of the project, Engineer Song Youzhou, told Xinhua, the official news agency of the country, that: “The biggest advantage is that the bus will save lots of road space."
This is to be believed considering the huge amount of passengers the bus can carry at a time compared to the number of passenger an ordinary bus or any car can carry. One of the buses is said to have the capacity to replace 40 normal buses!
The vehicle is not constructed to with wheels to move on road. Rather, it was designed with two legs that it can use to glide on rails that are specially designed for it at the roadside.
One of the concerns of people about this people is its speed. People believe that it will be slow because of its huge size. However, this bus is reputed to be able to glide on the rails at a speed of 60 km/hr. This is definitely not bad for a vehicle of its size and load capacity.
There is huge expectation from the people who constantly have to fight the dreaded problem of traffic jam every now and then. Expected to hit the the streets of China in the summer, this country which is currently rated as the major car market in the world, will have enough time to savour the maximum relief that will be offered by this wonder on rails.
There is a little concerned though. A similar experiment carried out a couple of years ago did not materialize and that has really dampened the hopes of people as to the reality of this current project. This is further aggravated by the fact that the former project that was later abandoned was headed by the same man, Engineer Song Youzhou.
If this project should succeed, other mega cities of the world with frustrating traffic problems may have finally found a permanent solution to their problems.
Welcome to the world of the bus that drives over cars.

This is a great invention by China and will help avoid traffic congestion for most of the roads there.
