Job Opportunities in Technology, Blogging for Money

During the early ages of internet, blogging was an unknown term. But today, there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of bloggers around the world who are blogging for money. But then, what is blogging? What is a blog?

What is a blog?

A blog can simply be defined as a regularly updated web page, usually run by an individual. In most cases, a blog contains the activities of an individual over a period of tine. So you can turn your passion, hobby and so on to a blog by posting them on your site or blog on a daily basis or depending on how convenient it is for you.
Before blogging, you must have a niche. "What is a niche", you may ask.

What is a niche?

A niche is the area of specialization where you want to be writing. I am into technology niche because all my posts have to do with information on latest technological advancements and job opportunities available in the technology sector. Some bloggers are into health niche, relationship niche, news and entertainment niche, fashion niche, and a host of other niches.

How do I pick a niche?

There is no fast and hard rule when it comes to the selection of a niche to blog about. Just write on what you feel at home doing. You may also think of what you are competent at doing, so that your passion will help you scale through the turbulent stages of blogging when the money is not flowing as you think. I started blogging recently but check my credentials and see why I decided to go into tech blogging. I had my first contact with computer in 2001 when I enrolled in a Computer School to get a certificate in Desktop Publishing/Hardware Repair. I spent 18 months in that computer school. I later proceeded to a polytechnic for ND in Computer Science before I went for a degree in Computer/Mathematics. During that period of time, I experimented with a lot of programming languages like COBOL, BASIC, FORTRAN, Visual Basic and Java before I finally decided to settle down with Visual Basic and Java. Don't forget that I went into web designing too. So naturally, tech blogging is my choice. Think of what you can do, even when sleeping, and turn it into a good blog and make your money, with time. You will realize that blogging for money is as simple as A,B,C

What you should know about blogging (blogging tips)

  1. Blogging is not a money ritual. Don't think you can start blogging today and you will become a millionaire tomorrow. NO. Blogging requires a lot of patience, determination, hardwork and prayer.
  2. Blogging requires that you have a good knowledge of what you are doing.
  3. You must always write unique articles. Don't copy and paste other people's articles. That will get you nowhere. Dare to be original.
  4. Blogging is not for lazy people. You have to work very hard to make a living out of blogging. When the money starts flowing, you will thank your God.

Requirements for Blogging

  • A computer system and a good access to the internet. This is a necessity as you can't blog without a computer system and internet connection.
  • Time: I will always emphasize that time is very important if you really want to make anything out of any online job opportunity. You need time to browse for relevant information. You need time to put your thoughts into words that you will post. An average post takes me nothing less than 2 hours to compose, proof read and share. You have to find time to write posts that your readers will appreciate. Otherwise, don't try to blog.
  • Passion: I will repeat here again that you must have a passion for what you want to write about. Blogging does not guarantee instant money. You have to work very hard to make it from blogging. From my personal experience, if you don't have the passion, you will drop out of blogging prematurely. Thousands of bloggers drop out of blogging every now and then.
  •  Platform: A platform is the foundation on which you build and update your blog. There are two major platforms for blogging: WordPress and Blogger. Both of them have their advantages and disadvantages and both are used by successful bloggers.
  • Host: A host is the company that gives you space and equipment on their server to store your blog. There are a lot of hosting companies like bluehost, philemore, domainking etc.
  • Domain name: This is the name you give to your blog. It must be unique and related to your niche. Host companies register domain name.
If you have all of the above, it is time for you to make use of them by starting your own blog. Who knows, you can be the next Linda Ikeji or Jide Ogunsaya
