Setting Up a Computer Business Center

In a related post, I wrote on setting up a computer school. I highlighted some of the requirements for setting up a computer school. Why the need for this article then? Are they not the same? No. They are not the same. A computer school is different from a computer business center.
What are the differences between a computer school and a business center?

Differences between a computer school and a computer business center

A computer school teaches basic computer applications like MS Word, Photoshop etc, and advanced courses like CCNA and certification courses like Java Certification, Oracle etc. A computer business center,
on the other hand, has the training section as well as typing, printing, laminating and other related services.
Also, it should be noted that both of them are different in terms of the basic requirements. They both need good location  and reasonable capital to start with. That is where their similarities end. In addition to the basic requirement for a computer school (you can search for my post on setting up a computer school), a computer business center need the items listed below:

Requirements for setting up a compute business center

1. Photocopy machine: This is very important for a business center as people make many duplicates of information and documents on a daily basis. A good photocopy machine with a very clear output will always drive traffic to a computer business center.
2. Laminating machine: This is necessary as people try to prevent documents from being eaten by mites and rats. Water spillage is also well handled by lamination.
3. Finger-printing machine (for online registration of students): Most online registration done by students today for examination bodies like JAMB requires finger printing. A computer business center without this item is incomplete.
4. Printing papers: Of course, printing and photocopying require a lot of papers.
5. Spiral binding machine: Projects, documents and other vital paper works are always spiral-binded to get all of them together in a book form.
6. Printer: What is the essence of type a piece of document without the means of getting the hard copy? This is a must-have.
7. Pieces of furniture: Tables and stools are necessary for students and customers to make use of.
8. Cooling system: It is a well-know fact that computer systems hate heat. To prevent damages to your computer system as a result of excess heat, make sure you have a way of making the place cool always. If you can't afford to buy an air conditioner, a giant-size ox fan will be enough to provide the needed air for your systems.
9. Internet connection: This is essential for research works. Why? Some people don't know how to search for information on the internet. As a result, you are expected to do that for them. Of course, they have to pay for rendering such services to them.
Try to carry out a good feasibility study to know the needs of the people in your neighbourhood before starting this business. Also, try to calculate the cost and see whether you can afford all what you need to run a good business center
If you have all of the items listed above, you will be able to make reasonable income to cater for your need and that of your family members successfully. Remember, as I said in my other post, always update your knowledge so that you will not be kicked out of business by outdated ideas.
