5 Useful Tips That Will Make People Return to your Website

One of the major problems of website owners is how to make their customers return to the site over and over again. After all, what is the essence of a website that doesn't enjoy good patronage and traffic?
There is no magic to keep viewers coming back to your site. There are, however, some useful tips that will help you to achieve that. Some of these simple but effective tips are:

Write Good Contents

The is the number 1 factor that can keep your viewers coming time and time again. When a visitor visits your site for the first time, he or she will scan through the contents of the site. The quality of the contents will make or mar your reputation, determining whether he or she will book a date with your site or not.

Good contents are the most important part of a website as it is responsible for people's response to your site. They will leave a lasting impression on the minds of visitors that anything else. Don't trade this for anything else on the site.
To achieve this, use the following tips.
  • Research your article before you write it: If you can research your article before you write it, you will have enough information to pass across. This will also prevent you from beating about the bush. Your information will be powerful and useful.
  • Let your content be unique: Even if you are writing the same topic as someone else, create an air of uniqueness around your article. Someone once told me that there are no unique articles anywhere. That is not true. Unless you want to commit intellectual theft, you can't write the same article verbatim with someone else. Your personal experience or understanding of a giving topic should reflect in your article. That will constitute uniqueness.
  • Be natural and express yourself freely: If you try to copy the writing style of some of your models or mentors, you will deprive yourself the opportunity to be natural. You must study yourself and know what works well for you. Follow your heart. Be natural. Write freely.
  • Consider your audience while writing: This is another point that is crucial to writing good articles. I will write more on this point later in the course of this article.
These useful tips can help you to write good articles that will keep your readers on their toes, asking for more. Remember the cliche, "Content is King"

Use Good Layout

The layout of your website is another thing to consider. If the layout makes navigation difficult, there may be problem as visitors may not be impressed. One of the factors that you must consider when planning your layout is the ease of navigation for your readers. Imagine what will be the response of a visitor who finds it difficult to "move" freely on your site. The chances of such a visitor coming back to your site are slim. How can you achieve good layout? Consider these tips:
  • Let your menu be easily accessible and functional
  • Let your side bars be few. Too much side bars will be counterproductive.
  • Make sure that the overall arrangement of the contents and other stuffs on the site are well-arranged.
  • Avoid unnecessary pop-ups. They can cause distraction.

Don't compromise speed of loading

In the world today, everybody is busy, your visitors inclusive. As a result of that, we all want to pack so much activities into the 24 hours at our disposal. If for any reason a visitor finds your page to load slowly, what will be his or her reaction? Personally, I will log out and look for websites that will load faster. The reason?  I am busy. Your visitors are busy too. Therefore, if you want to make your visitors to always have your site at the back of their mind, make it a duty to ensure that your site loads pretty fast.
If you want to achieve this, try these tips:
  • Use small pictures. Don't for any reason pack your site with large pictures. They consume much space and slow down the response time of your site. If possible, limit the size of any picture or image on your site to 20kb.
  •  Limit the use of pictures and images to situations when they are absolutely necessary. Since images are found to consume much space in the memory of a computer, too much of them will automatically become the agent of slow response rate.

Make sure all your anchors work

Another great turn off for visitors is broken links. If a visitor sees a link that contains information he or she is looking for but on clicking the link finds it to be broken, what will happen next? Disappointment. Therefore, it is imperative that you occasionally check your site for the presence or absence of broken links. If you find them, fix them. You will be rewarded for the time spent to fix the broken links when visitors find your site useful and have every course to visit it again.

Write for your audience

Irrespective of your years of experience, this is a good reminder if you want your visitors to become your cult followers. Always bear it in mind that you are not writing for yourself. You are writing for your audience.
There are some acts that may keep visitors away from your site after the initial visit. Know these acts and avoid them at all costs. How ?
  • Resist the temptation to impress them with your academic superiority.
  • Be mindful of your choice of words and expressions. It is advisable for you to use simple, correct tenses rather than using complex sentences.
 Why is this important?
This is important because your visitors are drawn from all walks of life. Some are highly educated while some barely made it to high school. Since you have no clue as to the identity and status of your potential visitors, play safe by abiding by the tips above. If they don't understand your articles, they will consider another visit to your site a waste of time.

Conclusion

While it is good to have an attractive User Interface, that should not override the importance of good contents and other points that are mentioned here.
If you can follow these simple tips, you will find them very useful in keeping your visitors addicted to your site as they will be assured of meaningful contents and judicious use of time. These are important factors that visitors consider before visiting a site.
